Interview Dr. Pilar

Find the Right Therapist for You!

"Shopping" for a therapist is a bit like shopping for shoes. You have to try them on, and choose them according to the kind of terrain you plan to cover, no matter the challenge. You need to feel reasonably sure they can take you where you want to go, and should you get stuck or lost, you will be guided and shown a few good maps.

For more reading on finding a therapist using the internet read "Four Tips To Using The Internet To Find The Right Therapist for You."

Here are a few questions to help you get the most out of the interview:
  1. How would past clients describe you as a therapist?
  2. Do you allow clients to call you between sessions?
  3. What modality do you practice most?
  4. Are your hours flexible?
  5. What is your earliest/latest appointment?
  6. Do you accept credit cards or a payment plan?
  7. Do I get charged for sessions when I can't give you 24-hours notice?

I encourage you to come to my office and "interview me" in person. Empower yourself by making this important choice with care.

"Within the first minute of my first appointment I knew I found someone who made me feel comfortable enough to open-up and explore the road to recovery.  I sought Dr. Placone for marriage counseling, but it felt more like a non-judgmental guide.  The road was not easy, as she asked thought provoking questions that really made me question my old self.  But I can't thank her enough for my new self!  The counseling does not stop when my appointment is over.  Her words are in my head all the time reminding me of what I learned how far I've come."
